Introduction to the reasoning behind DiverseNeuro
My name is Lauren and I’m a 17-year-old high school student from Canada. I’m an avid reader and I absolutely adore dogs. But more importantly, I’m an advocate for neurodiversity and autism acceptance. I am #actuallyautistic!
I created DiverseNeuro in lieu of helping society better understand the concept of neurodiversity. My mission is to provide reliable resources and educational tools in which help society better understand the concept of neurodiversity.
What is Neurodiversity?
According to the Stanford Neurodiversity Project, “Neurodiversity is a concept that regards individuals with the difference in brain function and behavioural traits as part of the normal variation in the human population.” (Stanford Neurodiversity Project)
I have dealt with a fair share of negative social experiences among my peers in years prior to my diagnosis. Considering my past struggles, I want to guide others in learning about neurological differences.
